wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    OMG you have no idea how much this helped. I have tried everything. These two commands worked perfect. 

    I love how so many places, including someone here tell you to run diagnostics and no further advice is given. Most people looking for answer to a problem like this would have done the basic stuff already and not many people get passed that basic step with their advice. 

    Thank god for your help. This thing was driving me crazy for ages. My wifi would connect at work but not at home. It was madness.

    You have to do the run as administrator for the cmd then do netsh winsock reset catalog, press enter. then netsh int ip reset reset.log, press enter. then reset the computer it should work after that if that was the problem
