FRUSTRATED to no end!! The command prompt commands did not work, but what I have found on my HP ENVY with Windows 8 is that I can now logon at home; however, not at any other single location. So obviously whatever I did ONE time worked for my home, but
isn't working for anything else. Obviously, when my phone and everyone else's laptops are able to login, the problem is NOT the router or any of the other useless suggestions.
I do not have the AVG antivirus or any other at the time I was having the problem. After getting a temporary fix to be able to login at home, I then downloaded my ATT MCafee suite. But the problem existed before then. Even at home I have had to REFRESH
my computer, so the fix was NOT permanent.
Today, after doing what was suggested on another thread, I have obtained an IP4 address, but no IP6, yet still unable to connect to internet:
Press windows logo key + X and click on command prompt(admin)
now type in : ipconfig /flushdns
then disable your wireless adapter ( network and sharing center -> change adapter settings )
Restart your computer
enable internet connection
So I am still desperately looking for an answer, now bc I have an IP4 address the troubleshooter says everything is working great.. Even though I can't connect to the internet... OMG!! sooo frustrated.
