Hi

The Address Book in Windows XP was called user name.wab. This was used in the default Outlook Express email program. You can copy/move that .wab file to the Windows 7 system.

In Windows 7, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the  C:\Users\your name\Contacts folder.

On the Toolbar, click the Import button.

In the Import dialog, select the Windows Address Book (Outlook Express contacts)  option.

Click the Import button and navigate to where you saved the .WAB file.

Select that file and click Open.

This will place all of the email addresses into the Contacts folder. This folder will be used for any email programs that you install.

    Now we are getting somewhere. If the contact does NOT have a "Delete" icon in the toolbar then it's from Facebook or Google+ - as I said in a post above.

    You can ONLY delete these contacts by going to Facebook or Google+ and deleting them there.

    However, you can unlink both your Facebook account and your Google+ account from your Microsoft account. That will remove ALL contacts from either of those that currently appear in your People App.

    To do this you need to

    1. Login to the Microsoft account page.
    2. On the left panel, click Permissions, then click Manage accounts.
    3. Look for Facebook, then click Edit.
    4. On the next page, click Remove this connection completely.
    5. A pop-up window will appear confirming if you want to remove the account, then select Remove.

    After doing so, log out and log back in to your account

    No it isn't correct. You cannot right click on the contact or within the contact and pull up some mythical delete tab. It doesn't happen. So that advice was no good. Second, I'm using Outlook which took over my hotmail account and imported all of the contacts from the last fifteen years. I have always used and continue to use Microsoft products with the latest in everything on the latest computer. The method you or someone else posted is incorrect. Do you understand. The advice you or someone else gave is BAD/WRONG/INCORRECT/DOESN'T WORK! Get it? I've been trying to explain that and you insist on on spewing this nonsense back about updates or using the right software or other excuses. I have the latest software. I have the latest machine. I went into the people app. It's linked to my outlook account. I can't delete any names or accounts because the program - Microsoft 8.1 etc - doesn't offer a delete tab, option, or anything else. I've told you what it says and you keep insisting you know better when you don't.

    There's a bit of confusion here I think.

    1. Who is your email provider? (Outlook.com, Gmail etc etc)
    2. The method of deleting a contact from the People App is posted above in this thread.

    When I tried to link the people app to outlook, it said I already had. Now what? I still can't delete ANY contacts and it lifted them from sources I haven't spoken to in years. PLEASE, just tell me how to delete the contacts.
