System image restore failed

Hi, I have a system with a C:drive (a SSD drive that Windows runs on) a E drive (ordinary hard drive) an external drive used for backups and a CD/DVD drive.  The C drive died.  My computer supplier (it's less than a year old) told me to extract the drive, I sent it to them, and after a long wait received a replacement.  That's now installed and running.  I have Windows on it anc can access the files on my other drive.  But I cannot get the system image from my external backup to copy back across.  I keep getting "The system image restore failed.  Error details: The disk that is set as active in Bios is too small to recover the original system disk.  Replace the disk with a larger one and retry the restore operation (Ox80042407).  But the replacement disk is the same as my original which died.  It also wants to reformat my E drive, which is rather worrying, as there was no problem with that.  This is after having followed its previous instruction to boot from the Windows Install disk.  Desperate for help.

My earlier reply does not seem to be listed, so I'm posting it again:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Because this whole proceedure is somewhat risky I would like to duplicate it on one of my computers at home. Here is what I will do.

    1. Install Windows 7 on a hard drive (with a partition size larger than the 74GB drive I will use to simulate your SSD drive).
    2. Install a second hard drive (single partition) for data storage to simulate your E: drive.
    3. Create a backup using Windows 7's Backup and Restore.
    4. Convert the backup for use by Acronis True Image.
    5. Shrink the front of the E: drive partition and create a new partition large enought to restore the image to.
    6. Attempt to use the Acronis 'Recovery Disk' to restore the image to the new partition on the drive.
    7. See If I can boot to what was once your E: drive, which will now have 2 partitions (Windows and your data partition).
    8. Shrink the Windows partition on the E: drive to a size that is slightly less than the 74GB partition.
    9. Create a new Image Backup using Acronis.
    10. Restore the new image to the 74GB hard drive.

What I'd like you to do is call the SSD drive manufacture and verify 2 things.

    a) What is the best way to restore an image to the SSD drive (which already has Windows 7 installed on it.

    b) Verify the Acronis True Image 2011 (not 2010) will restore an image backup to the model number of the SSD drive that you have.

One final question: Do you have the time to wait for my test results?

My hard disk failed in the first week of February, so I'm getting desperate now but I suppose a couple more days won't hurt.  Your efforts to help me are very much appreciated.  Phoning OCZ is not really feasible, they're in California, it's made in Taiwan, their nearest office is in Holland, I'm in England.  But I've "opened a support ticket" on-line with them asking your two questions.  It says they'll reply within 24 hours.

I'm testing the instructions I posted on March 1st as I write this. Will provide results and any modifications to the whole proceedure when I'm satisifed its reliable.

Has OCZ replied yet, if not please post the exact model number and I'll call them (your name will not be mentioned) as see what they have to say.

Hi, no, no reply.  The number they ask for as a model number is OCZSSD22VTXE120G.  I could e-mail you the "trouble ticket" which came back from them, but probably shouldn't post it here.  My e-mail is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
