System image restore failed

Hi, I have a system with a C:drive (a SSD drive that Windows runs on) a E drive (ordinary hard drive) an external drive used for backups and a CD/DVD drive.  The C drive died.  My computer supplier (it's less than a year old) told me to extract the drive, I sent it to them, and after a long wait received a replacement.  That's now installed and running.  I have Windows on it anc can access the files on my other drive.  But I cannot get the system image from my external backup to copy back across.  I keep getting "The system image restore failed.  Error details: The disk that is set as active in Bios is too small to recover the original system disk.  Replace the disk with a larger one and retry the restore operation (Ox80042407).  But the replacement disk is the same as my original which died.  It also wants to reformat my E drive, which is rather worrying, as there was no problem with that.  This is after having followed its previous instruction to boot from the Windows Install disk.  Desperate for help.

    Called OCZ Tech. Support. Their only concern was possible loss in performance after restoring the image. Over a period of time the performance should recover (Active Trim) but they still recommend either not to restore but instead perform a fresh install of Windows (which you have already done) or use what they call an "Erase" utility which apparently should be used prior to restoring the Image backup. (Contact them to get the link for this utility as I could not find it).

    I've tested my proceedure but it your call.

    I'm calling OCZ today, will see what they say.

    BTY the actual part number is: OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G. That dash D2-2V is necessary if you search OCZ's web site.

    If OCZ is on the west coast expect at a 4 hour delay since I'm on the east coast.

    Hmm.  They've now replied:  Trouble Ticket ID: 171782

    Please be advised that the status on your trouble ticket

    has been changed from Acknowledged to Waiting on Customer

    with the following comment:

    Comment: Windows 7 has its own built in backup imaging utility.

    You should be able to image from SSD to SSD without difficulty, but going from HDD

    to SSD will likely be problematic. I do not recommend doing this.
