Hi, I have a system with a C:drive (a SSD drive that Windows runs on) a E drive (ordinary hard drive) an external drive used for backups and a CD/DVD drive. The C drive died. My computer supplier (it's less than a year old) told me to extract the drive, I sent it to them, and after a long wait received a replacement. That's now installed and running. I have Windows on it anc can access the files on my other drive. But I cannot get the system image from my external backup to copy back across. I keep getting "The system image restore failed. Error details: The disk that is set as active in Bios is too small to recover the original system disk. Replace the disk with a larger one and retry the restore operation (Ox80042407). But the replacement disk is the same as my original which died. It also wants to reformat my E drive, which is rather worrying, as there was no problem with that. This is after having followed its previous instruction to boot from the Windows Install disk. Desperate for help.

That 100MB looks just as it should, normally the next step would be to restore the C: Windows partition.
Qustions: the 107GB partition is that your Windows partition, what is the 14GB for (restore/recovery partition)?
What is the make and model of your SSD drive. Have you used TRIM, Garbage collection or Flashed the SSD drive with the latest firmware?

Here's what bootable partition wizard reports for Disk 1 partition/capacity/used/status/type:

I'm just re-installing Windows in order to download the partition wizard, and it tells me that 100MB is not enough for Windows, it's instlling it into the partition of 107 GB currently called D.
OK, I'll look at that, but while I do I notice one other thing: I've managed to restore JUST partition C, the 100 MB one. When I try to restore partition Dand get to the recovery wizard Summary, it says:

Well how can it fit 119.1 GB into 107 GB? My computer supplier said that 107 GB is what a 120 GB hard disk shows up as due to the way Kbs are calculated, but here, surely Acronis is using the same units?
I'd say it safe to not worry about that 1MB of space for the moment, the drive letter C: is for Windows (unfortunately I don't have Acronis installed on my test computer at the moment as I'm evaluating Service Pack 1 but I can always install it and check my notes).
If you have already performed the restore of that 100MB partition (or even if not) take a look at this utility to see your current partition layout. Create the bootable CD version. Just view the drive layout and report back (gee arrant computers fun, what appears to be so easy some times, can turn into a Night.... !)
