Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix.

I've cleaned the registry, retried update, rebooted, and still no luck. Any clue as to what this error code refers to ? My current version of IE is now dysfunctional too!

OK here is a solution (that worked for me):

a. Install IE9 from: http://internet-explorer.uk.msn.com/

b. Reboot

c. Uninstall IE9 (From: Control Pannel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates > Windows Internet Explorer 9)

d. Reboot

e. Run windows update and install IE9 (Now it will work).

f. Reboot.

    I have the same problem!

    I try many alternatives to fix the problem:

    • reinstall ie8;
    • reinstall ie9 by windows update;
    • reinstall ie9 by self installer;
    • system restore;
    • uninstall the SP1 and reinstall SP1;
    • remove the directory prog...files\Internet Explorer and all entries in registry;

    And the problem is already present! I have any ie in my system.

    IE9 does not reinstall.

    There are other alternative? I will go back a system image. It have one year old, but this will be faster than format e reinstall all programs.

    i have the same problem. My computer was shutdown and my windows updates were corrupted. Now, i can´t install IE9  with error "there is a more recent version...'

    and there is no update to uninstall from Programs & Features->Windows Updates->Windows Internet Explorer 9

    I´ve tried to clean registry. It didn´t work.

    I tried to restore my windows to a older date, but i can´t do it too, because an error happens.

    Well, i will keep using firefox, because i´ve tried everything that you have done in this topic  with no success. I give up.

    Hiding the problem is not a solution!

    No one understand what case this solution, and when it will occur again.

    The solution to this problem for users that allredy got internet explorer 9 installed and works properly: Just hide the update, problem solved, Just press the "# important updates availiable" right click "Windows internet explorer 9 for x##-based systems" and select "Hide update". Press the "OK" button in the right bottom corner and your done.
