Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix.

I've cleaned the registry, retried update, rebooted, and still no luck. Any clue as to what this error code refers to ? My current version of IE is now dysfunctional too!

OK here is a solution (that worked for me):

a. Install IE9 from: http://internet-explorer.uk.msn.com/

b. Reboot

c. Uninstall IE9 (From: Control Pannel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates > Windows Internet Explorer 9)

d. Reboot

e. Run windows update and install IE9 (Now it will work).

f. Reboot.

    Simlar issue - I have installed ie9 (the latest version) in Windows 7 and the installation has somehow become corrupted. If I try opening ie9 the window quickly opens and closes.

    I've tried resetting Internet Options from Control Panel. No luck. Next tried to un-install from Programs & Features->Windows Updates->Windows Internet Explorer, but ie9 is NOT there in the list?

    Next tried http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows\_7/uninstall-internet-explorer-9-beta-i-cannot-locate/17dfea10-0bff-4262-8aab-83fffd0de66f

    This seemed to uninstall some of the ie9 packages, but didn’t uninstall the program. I’ve tried re-installing ie9 but it tells me it’s already installed. Also I have no restore point, as I’m using Acronis, bu my last update was after the error occurred. Is there any fix or repair for this?

    I have the exact same issue. And I have tried the exact actions, no luck. Seems it's a bug?

    I have Win7U x64, updated automatically until recently.

    I was having some problems with IE9, virus???, spyware???, etc.  Microsoft FixIt, MSSE, Panda ActiveScan,  and various online scanners were unable to smooth out my problems. I decided to revert to IE8 and then reinstall IE9 after cleanup and reboot.  I went into installed programs, windows options, and unchecked IE, and rebooted.

    IE9 was still there!  And still flaky (confirmation windows invisible, clicks have no effect until after reload, etc.)!  I tried the solutions on here with no success.

    On 12/21/2011 "Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" failed with error code 9C48.

    All other updates are successful.

    When I try the IE9 x64 installer from Microsoft.com, it reports a newer version already installed.  When I try the x86 installer from MSN.UK, it reports incompatible w/ x64 Windows.

    I would appreciate ANYONE with suggestions.
