KB2538242 visual c++ redistributable update on june 2011 keeps trying to install

I never had an issue getting them to install, I found that all the downloads installed, but now I have multiple installations.  So, I don't understand why they don't 'cancel out' the redundant ones.  I stopped the redundant notifications by just 'hiding' the next one along. 

I am skeptical about the effectiveness of the update if it is so inefficiently deployed, and Microsoft is letting us figure our our own 'work around' .   Sad state of the PC.

I have W7 32 bit, manual download from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=ae2e1a40-7b45-4fe9-a20f-2ed2923aca62&displaylang=en using download vcredist_x86.EXE seems to have done the trick, now when asking for updates it is no longer offered.

I have "hidden" the 7th notice of the same update.  It is shown as installed, successfully about a half dozen times already.  It has stopped 'showing up' since I checked to 'hide' it.  However, I agree that MS needs to address this.  I have no idea why the system shouldn't recognize the duplication and either reject and notify the user, or ignore additional notifications.  ???

During the june 2011 update, i have already downloaded the KB 2538242 visual c++ redistributable update but after restart, I still keep on having the same update when I checked. I downloaded it the second time around then restarted then checked for updates again, it is still there. Is this necessary? Why do I keep on getting the update? Do I need to download a lot of KB2538242 update? or is there something wrong with my system? or is it a form of virus?

I would appreciate it if Microsoft would directly correct this issue by repairing their update patch, as opposed to having users apply their own workaround.
