KB2538242 visual c++ redistributable update on june 2011 keeps trying to install

During the june 2011 update, i have already downloaded the KB 2538242 visual c++ redistributable update but after restart, I still keep on having the same update when I checked. I downloaded it the second time around then restarted then checked for updates again, it is still there. Is this necessary? Why do I keep on getting the update? Do I need to download a lot of KB2538242 update? or is there something wrong with my system? or is it a form of virus?

    Trying to find out why KB2538242 says it updates successful but the automatic updates continues to want to update it and does but apparently won't recognize the fact.   What to do to?  Also I don't know how to determine what version of Microsoft my system is to be able to download the correct version x86, x64,  or IA64?

    Can someone help?

    Microsoft really screwed up here.

    And funny thing, nobody from Microsoft wants to answer this question.

    This should not happen.

    Microsoft has to be responsible for their doing,

    especially since people have to pay money for their software.

    Am I right, or what?

    I looked a my update history and it has now installed 'sucessfully' 10 times. I just re-booted and it wants to update again. I wonder if MS has a fix for this? Can't find any other replies other then others are still having the problem. I tried the download of the vcredist_x86.exe and it won't install either.

    Hello,

    I do not know what was wrong, but when I tried to manually download the update again like I did before, except this time I did not save it first and then run it, I ran it right after it was downloaded. It worked! go figure!  I used Firefox before and that saves the downloads before I run them. This time I used Internet Explorer 9 and it asked if I wanted to run or save the download. I chose run. It worked.    It's crazy how these updates will work one way and not the other! Stupid if you ask me!
