Explorer.exe Crashes Constantly When Accessing Control Panel or Any Start Menu Item on WIN 7 x64

Hello,

I have explorer.exe crashing when I try to open the Control Panel on Seven x64 and on some right clicking on files and on anything I search or try to open in the Start Menu.

I think the problem started after I created the Godmode folder through Windows 7 Manager from Yamisoft (I managed to get rid of Godmode anyway).

I can access all components of the Control Panel through the cpl files in Windows directory and none crashes but if I try to open the main Control Panel window explorer crashes.

I run ShellExView and disabled all Shell extension which are NOT from Microsoft and the problem persist.

The problem doesn't occur in Safe Boot mode.

I checked the Event Viewer and the explorer crashes have this info:

I run sfc while in safe mode since it wouldn't start in normal mode and it says that it couldn't repair some files.

    Thanks for the clarification Cbarnhorst,

    I had figured the difference out myself in the meanwhile and as I wrote I tried clean boot but the problem persists even with all third party services disabled so it's a problem in a Windows's module I'd say.

    As to your question on the first as to whether clean boot is different from safe boot, yes it is.  Clean boot loads all Microsoft software and drivers but does not load third party software and selected drivers.  In particular it does not load AV software and such.  It is a very effective troubleshooting methodology since you can selectively reintroduce software until you find the offending package.  See

    It is possible the TeraCopy64.dll may be at issue.

    Can you uninstall TeraCopy and see if the crashes resolve?

    Hi Auggy,

    I uninstalled Teracopy along with Fences again with no results.

    The situation has in the meanwhile worsened since explorer crashes even more often and on new instances like changing wallpaper through right click desktop menu which before gave no problem.

    When I tried accessing the control Panel before the green search bar almost reached the end while now it crashes immediately.

    Should l I try to recreate the dump logs?

    Any settings you recommend on the instructions i copied on the other 3D?

    Any further suggestions?

    Hmmm....

    Since you had mentioned that the issue doesnt occur in safe mode, Have you tried with a New User Account or a Default Admin account..

    Also did you check the Problem history in the action center?? What is the Faulting Module and Version?
