You may have accidentally hidden the icons.

To unhide desktop icons:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and open the "Arrange Icons By" sub-menu.
  2. In the sub-menu, click "Show Desktop Icons" to uncheck it.

Hope this helps

Sorry, but when I click on desktop, open arrange icons does not come. It is not one of the commands.

thank you for the replies, thanks. I somehow got them back. I`m not sure if I did it or the computer did it but thanks

It is good to hear the issue is resolved. One thing I had neglected to mention is reboot. For reasons unknown, sometimes that is what is called for.
