Change Power Settings

How to:

  • Set your computer to go (or not to go) to sleep after a specified period of inactivity. For more information, see Turn off a computer: frequently asked questions.
  • Adjust the brightness of your display.
  • Choose when to turn off the display during periods of inactivity.
  1. Open Power Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
  2. Under the plan that you want to change, click Change plan settings.
  3. On the Change settings for the plan page, choose the display and sleep settings that you want to use when your computer is running on battery (if applicable) and when it's plugged in.
  4. For more options, click “Change advanced power settings.”
  5. When you’re done click OK.

Today I tested my solution by adjusting the sleep time from 60 minutes down to 5 minutes.  I waited and it did not go to sleep in 5 minutes.  Apparently the solution of digging into the Registry dominates what ever I do in the Advanced Settings.

I'm afraid to do that myself.  I took it to my Tech guys.  Now the Registry is set for 60 minutes and that works for me.

I'm sorry that my suggestion appears not to work.

I finally found a solution, with the help of the Lenovo Forum and a Digilink Technician

The Lenovo Forum recommended digging into the registry.  I took my computer to my Digilink Tech and he followed the steps into the registry and made the changes, but later we found that it could be done without getting into the Registry.

I believe this will work without getting into the registry.

Start menu>>Settings>>System >>Power, Sleep>> additional power settings>>Change when the computer sleeps>>change advanced power settings>>[See Power Options Window appear]>> +Sleep>> +System unattended sleep timeout>> [See "Plugged in" and "On battery" places to enter a time .  [Mine is now 60 minutes for both.]>> click Apply.

In addition to doing this, all other possible settings in my control panel for sleep are set to NEVER.

I hope this helps.  It fixed mine ... finally.
