[b]Windows failed to start. A Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

  1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
  2. Choose your langugae settings, and then click next
  3. Click "repair your computer."

Status: 0xc000000eInfo: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.[/b] I got this error after some random point in time on my computer. At the time I had two instances of windows on my computer and after this point it took me a week or two to find my windows install dvd but once I did none of the repair tools seemed to work and it would always end up with this error. I then decided to give up and just install windows 7 on the hdd I didn't have an instance of windows on since I have 3 hdd. This worked well for 4 days until this morning when the same error message popped up on me. I hadn't even gotten around to reinstalling all the same programs as my other instance of windows. Also in the meantime while using the newest instance of windows the computer never recognized that there were 2 other instances of windows but now today while going about fixing the newest instance of windows it did decide to recognize that there is at least one other form of windows on the computer. While rebooting trying every type of repair tool I was able to boot into the older form of windows but none of my programs worked and I wasn't able to connect to the internet and eventually on a random reboot in which I didn't press any buttons I am again on my newest version of windows. I really have no clue what is going on and this is quite frustrating at the moment since I don't know what is wrong. I thought it might be one of my hdd but unless it is all 3 of them then I really don't think it is them. Also when running the restart repair (I think that's what it was called) it said it could find no problems but there was one root error. I am not sure what that means but maybe that might help. If there is any additional info that would help to find the solution to this problem please let me know. Thanks ahead of time for any assistance.

Hello Andrew,

1.    Since when are you facing this issue?

2.    Any recent changes made to the computer?

Method 1:

Unplug all the external devices and try booting and check.

Method 2:

Check if you are able to boot in safe mode or not:

If yes,I suggest you to put the computer inclean boot state and check.

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note:

After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps in the above article to reset the computer to start as usual.

If not,try perfomring astartup repair and check:

Method 3:

If not, I suggest you toRebuild the BCD store manually by using the Bcdedit.exe tool.

    I have been getting the same error code as everyone else and after some looking at and allot of experimenting, I found in that in my case it was due to a over heating chipset, (for the less technological people, the part that controls some major functions of the computer). It happens only when I disable my fans and the chipset reach a high tempreture. This could explain that because some of you are running on laptops and in there confined cases parts become very hot they chipset could fail. Also if you leave your computer on over night the heat builds up but your fans run according to the processor tempreture therefore your chipset gets hotter but your fans ignore that as the processor is cool.

    Solution:

    Try allow more air to follow through the case and if it does still come up with the error i found if you swap the sata cable to a different port each time that solves it. If that still fails if you have a custom pc such as me then buy a better heat sink for the chipset, but if you have a standard pc send it back to the manufacturer to be repaires
