my windows update has installed updates today august 10 2011. but these three dotnet updates (KB2539636  KB2533523  KB2468871) failed to install... can anyone help me please?? thank you...

btw i am using windows 7 home premium

...x64 - is for 64bit WIndows 7

...x86 - is for 32bit WIndows 7

How to find out if Windows 7 is 32bit or 64bit is here:

Maybe what you can try (before you try points 1..11) only turn Off your antivirus and turn Off UAC, then manually install the updates  that failed to installand  run Windows update to install rest of updates. Turn On your antivirus and turn On UAC. How turn Off UAC see point 5).

If these steps above not help, try to use these ones:

1) uninstall Net Framework 4.0 client from „Uninstall and change program“:

2) If you still see Net Framework 4.0 client in „Uninstall and change program“ use this tool for unistallation Net Framework 4.0 client:

    download, unpack and run „cleanup_tool.exe“ – from pull-down menu choose „.NET Framework 4“ and click „Cleanup Now“

  1. After uninstallation restart computer
  2. Turn Off (Disable) your antivirus
  3. Turn Off UAC (User Account Control) – howto do it:

6) Download and install Net Framework 4.0 from here (choose right language):

      (same for 32bit OS and 64bit OS)

7) restart computer

8) try to install manually all updates (KB??????) that failed to install

9) run Windows update and install rest of updates

10) T****urn On UAC (User Account Control) – howto do it:

11) Turn On (Enable) your antivirus

    I need help as well. I did update yesterday morning, and worked on this since then, 13 hours yeasterday, and so far 6 hours. Been on phone several times, and nothing has worked! On boot up now:

    Dell Dock error

    Datasafe online error

    srtkey.nlp

    lost windows live mail

    Updates fail installation:

    KB2518870 code 643

    KB2539636 code 643

    KB2533523 code 643

    KB976932 code C0000135

    KB2538243 code 64C

    Not sure which update( think is service pack) also give me this: spinstall.exe system error.......sqmapi.dll missing

    I have tried the individual downloads unsuccessfully. My computer worked fine until the updates yesterday morning. I am at wits end at this time. The calls from microsoft I made, they could not even use the easy assist ( access my computer from theirs). Something got very messed up. I can not restore anymore because of all this.

    Please help, from what I have read, this was an update issue.

    I've been having the exact same problem, and started searching the net for the solution when I came across this thread. When using Windows Update it downloads the file fine, creates a restore point, and then during file installation I get an error saying that Windows Update encountered an unexpected error with Code 80070003 listed as the culprit.

    I then looked up that error code and followed all instructions listed: which comprised of clearing out all temp folders, stopping and restarting windows update service, and deleting everything in the Windows\Software Distribution\download folder like instructed. After doing this many times and restarting many times I still got the same errors on all 3 updates listed above. I then tried checking and unchecking each of the 3 updates to try and install one at a time, and in different orders, and still a no go. What's going on here?

    OK. Before I run a system recovery from July,17 and a WinUp. Problem not solved.

    Next I renamed the distribution folder in the way you explained and run WinUp. Problem not solved. For the time being i have to conclude that there might be a bug in WinUp which coarse my problem. I will continue monotoring this topic.
