Windows Update fails to install updates KB2539636, KB2533523, and KB2468871.

my windows update has installed updates today august 10 2011. but these three dotnet updates (KB2539636  KB2533523  KB2468871) failed to install... can anyone help me please?? thank you...

btw i am using windows 7 home premium

...x64 - is for 64bit WIndows 7

...x86 - is for 32bit WIndows 7

How to find out if Windows 7 is 32bit or 64bit is here:

Maybe what you can try (before you try points 1..11) only turn Off your antivirus and turn Off UAC, then manually install the updates  that failed to installand  run Windows update to install rest of updates. Turn On your antivirus and turn On UAC. How turn Off UAC see point 5).

If these steps above not help, try to use these ones:

1) uninstall Net Framework 4.0 client from „Uninstall and change program“:

2) If you still see Net Framework 4.0 client in „Uninstall and change program“ use this tool for unistallation Net Framework 4.0 client:

    download, unpack and run „cleanup_tool.exe“ – from pull-down menu choose „.NET Framework 4“ and click „Cleanup Now“

  1. After uninstallation restart computer
  2. Turn Off (Disable) your antivirus
  3. Turn Off UAC (User Account Control) – howto do it:

6) Download and install Net Framework 4.0 from here (choose right language):

      (same for 32bit OS and 64bit OS)

7) restart computer

8) try to install manually all updates (KB??????) that failed to install

9) run Windows update and install rest of updates

10) T****urn On UAC (User Account Control) – howto do it:

11) Turn On (Enable) your antivirus

    Worked for me as well.  Perhaps the problem isn't the installation, but Windows update.

    Performed the "fix" in this thread and that solved the problem.  Update still shows as unsuccessful but, Windows update isn't trying to download and reinstall again and again and again either, and shows as installed as updates.

    Trouble with everything and then updates to boot 'til I found you!     :-*

    All three failed when using Windows Updates - Error 643

    Found the fixit on this page and it did not work - Fixit 50123 - Error 2738

    Next, I found the fixit for Error 2738 and it didn't work.

    Same Error 2738 as soon as it finished.

    I tried this fixit as well and the same error when finished.

    And then I found you ............... and only you ..........   :-*

    The first two I downloaded were no problem at all. Rebooted and went back to get KB2468871 which gave me quite a fright when it stalled at 3 minutes and 9 seconds. I cancelled, hit the download button again and all went well.

    LC, thank you for your help. What you had me do did help. I did not have errors in my reboot for the first time since I did automatic updates yesterday. I will begin another topic for where I am now. Thank you again, you were very helpful!

    Hi,

    it seems to me that something have to run (on background), which block the manually installation of updates. Try to start a new topic on your problems, because it is a little different from this one and I have to go (quite).

    I am very sorry, but I hope somebody else help you.
