Hi,

Method 1:

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (Universal Serial Bus) drives, etc...)Except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

Method 2:

If you still come across the issue, I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter and then check for the issue.

If you still come across the issue, I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter and then check for the issue.

a)     Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel.

b)     In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device.‌

c)       If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Access the link below to know more about Hardware Troubleshooter:

Method 3:

If the above step does not help us to diagnose the issue, uninstall the drivers for USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller and restart the computer. Let Windows install the generic drivers and then see if it helps you to fix the issue.

a)     Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, then Device Manager in the search box.‌

b)     If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c)      Look for the device under USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller, right click on it and select Uninstall.

d)     Reboot the computer.

e)     On reboot, Windows 7 should re-install the drivers automatically.

Method 4:

If the above methods don’t work you can try to reinstall the drivers for your Canon Camera. To do so refer the link provided below:

Hope it helps. Please let us know for further assistance.

Not sure if you understand the difference between. Registry Key and Registry Value. A Key can associated with 0 to several Values.   UpperFilter is a Value and as indicated in a different reply, it ,any or may not exist.

    Hi guys,

I bought a Motorola Defy phone today which initially worked and then showed the same symptoms as described above. After trying everything (using the Windows Hardware Assistant, disabling Windows Media Player, manually deleting all USB controllers in Device Manager etc etc) for hours and hours, I finally de-installed a software called "Motorola Media Link" which in truth is some piece from Nero - and then everything was back to normal.

    Cheers

The link given in "Method 4" is circular.  It takes us RIGHT BACK TO THIS PAGE!!!!  HELLLPPPP!!!!

I was so excited about my new computer UNTIL I discovered that Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit won't even work with my Canon G12 camera!?!?!?  Do you engineers know how many people use Canon cameras?  A LOT!!!

Mr. Naman R., if I don't receive a reply PRONTO about this, I will cease my 31 years of being one of Microsoft's best end-users and go to Apple.  In the Age of Media Compatibility, what were you guys thinking when you left in this bug???

Another thing:  You only allow us to answer "Was this helpful?" with "YES".  Where's the "NO" button, or do you not care about the truth???

Google "Canon G12 Windows 7" and you would have found this page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=Canon%20PowerShot%20G12%20Digital%20Camera&v=Canon&uid=4342B001%20&l=en-US&pf=2&pi=8&c=Cameras%20%26%20Photo&sc=Digital%20Cameras&os=32-bit

If you did further searching, you would have found this page:

    http://windowsteamblog.com/windows\_live/b/windowslive/archive/2011/07/26/photo-gallery-now-supports-raw-format.aspx

which apparently addresses a problem you would be having viewing RAW image files from your camera.
