Specified Module could not be found (LogiLDA.dll)

Here are 4 methods that I've just found and I think that's enough to solve this problem:

LogiLDA.dll could not be found after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After upgrading to Windows 8.1, so many users of Logitech got an error on start up about the Logitech Download Assistant, says:

“There was a problem starting C:\Windows\System32\LogiLDA.dll 

The specified module could not be found.”

The Logitech Download Assistant is a program that helps your computer detect and download newly released updates for your Logitech software.

During the Windows 8.1 upgrading progress the LogiLDA.dll file may be deleted, that causes the issue.

The solution for this case is so simple. You have several options for fixing the error.

Method 1

If you’re using any wireless Logitech mouse or keyboards:

1. Plug your Logitech Unifying Receiver into your USB port.

2. Your computer will recognize the Receiver and install the driver software for it.

3. Make sure that the mouse or keyboard work well with the Receiver.

4. Restart and check if the error still appears or not.

If Windows cannot install driver software, you could manually download and install Logitech SetPoint software from Logitech downloads site. The latest version that works with Windows 8 is SetPoint v6.61.15.

Note:

• Remember to select the 32 or 64-bit version.
• If you installed SetPoint before, please uninstall it then install the new downloaded version.

If you only use Logitech webcams then you should download and install the latest software for your webcam.

* Download the Logitech Webcam Software v 2.80 that supports Windows 8 from Logitech download website:http://www.logitech.com/pub/video/lws/lws280.exe

* If the updated software still does not help to solve the problem, you should try the 2nd method below.

Method 2 - Disable LogiLDA 

1. Right-click on the Task-bar > select Task Manager.
2. Navigate to Startup tab
3. Select LogiLDA
4. Click on Disable button
5. Restart and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Method 3 – Rollback driver

1. Right-click on Start button > select Computer management
2. Navigate to Device Manager
3. In the list, go to Human Interface Devices
4. Find Logitech Download Assistant > right-click on it > select Properties
5. Navigate to Driver tab > click on Roll Back driver > Click OK to roll back to the previously installed driver.
6. Restart.

Method 4: Delete registry entries

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run box
2. Type in “regedit” then Enter
3. The User Account Control warning will appear. Now click on Yes button.
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
5. Find the entry Logitech Download Assistant
6. Right-click on it and select Delete.
7. A “Confirm Value Delete” warning will appear, click on “Yes” button. 
8. Restart your computer.

Thank you for posting a short and succinct solution to the problem without getting into related but irrelevant debates :-) I had the DLL error pop up after an otherwise butter smooth update of my company laptop to Windows 8.1. 

I figured it was a Logitech thing as I have seen similar issues (though different error messages) when I have upgraded my MacBook Pro in the past. I did follow your tip and see USB entries but alas not one with Logitech's name in front of it.

Will try to find another way, maybe removing any Logitech control panel that may have been previously installed.

I have the same error, but can't find that USB Input Device in the Device Manager.  I also did a search and still can't find it.  Any other suggestions?

if you have windows 8.1, chances are some of the items are "hidden". go to device manager, under the menu bar (file, action, view, help) you will see smaller icons, click on "show/hide action pane", another box will open on the right side, go to more actions, view, show hidden devices.

all the hidden devices will appear and you will see the logictech download manager...just uninstall, restart.
