how many points is it possible to score in spider solitaire intermediate?

Trying to figure out the maximum number of points that can be scored playing spider solitaire intermediate -----the one with two suits.

My highest scores for Spider Solitaire (Windows 7's version) on intermediate are as follows:

1238 (5/23/2010)

1222 (6/20/2010)

1214 (8/30/2010)

1195 (4/4/2011)

1180 (6/12/2011)

I'm positive there are higher scores possible. :)

Wikipedia states that the highest possible score is 1293 given a perfect deal (and I'm assuming that's on Expert mode given the additional score possibilites being lower than what I've achieved on intermediate mode).

Win percentage is almost meaningless (addressing another "answer") as all games of Spider Solitaire are winnable given the unlimited undo's in Windows' version. I've played 646 games thus far with a 100% win percentage.

You can get as high a score as you want. It just takes time.

Find a game where when you clear a column you get the no more moves screen. You just got 100 points. Click to return to the game and undo. The game forgets to take away the 100 points. clear the column again and get another 100 points (minus the point for the undo and the point for the move to clear the column). Wash, rinse, repeat until you reach the score you want or get bored.

I have not spotted this answer in the forum. I am using W10 and the basic, all spades spider. If, as suggested you start at 500 and lose one for each move, but gain 1000 for all cards sorted, I suggest the maximum score, without undoing anything, would be 1479.A large degree of luck would be involved!

This is how, assuming all cards were initially dealt in the best possible order.

To start there is a potential 1500.

1. Deal the pack until it is all dealt (5 deals) Lose 5 points

2. Add 6 from heap 1 to heap 2, then 1 from heap 1, lucky you they are in order and a full set (lose 2 points)

3. Add 6 from heap 3 to heap 4, then one from heap 1 (lose 2)

4. repeat for heaps 5 and 6 (lose 2)

5 repeat for heaps 7, 8 and 9, 10 lose 4 more

You have so far lost 5+10, i.e. 15 points and have left heaps of 0, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4

6. move 4 onto 4 onto 5 three times, losing 2 points each time so 6 points lost

add this to the 15 lost earlier giving a total of 21 points lost

Final result would then be 1500 minus 21 or 1479.

I have not calculated the probability of the cards all being in the right order for this!

I cannot say all games are winnable or not as I don't know if I've played them all. However I've had a pretty good run so far. The few losses are usually due to pressing the wrong button (note: don't play late at night when you are tired).

I don't play to get high scores but to find the 'impossible games'. Some have taken nearly a 1000 moves to win with many over 500 moves. For me much more fun.

Also, I'm of the opinion that there is a bug in the software when it comes to the high scores. There is no way that I've scored 1400+ 3 times.

Actually, not all games are winnable. I have "undone" all the way back to the beginning of a game and exhausted every possible move quite a few times.
