Keyboard won't work on laptop

I just woke my laptop up and the keyboard didn't work, every key that i hit typed 5. So I restarted my laptop and now the keyboard won't type nothing. Any answers?

Hi James,

Who is the manufacturer of Laptop?

Are you using external keyboard?

Most of the time when you hit letters you get numbers with laptop and the workaround is to Try hit the Fn Lock key and Num Lock Key,

If your keyboard stopped working completely then you may try the steps below:

Shutdown the laptop and Remove the battery. Hold in the power button for a few seconds. This resets the motherboard. Replace the batter and startup as normal.

If non of the options work then you may with system restore asper the Link below:

    Try buying another keyboard, that's what I did.

     How would you use a new keyboard on the laptop?

    For better assistance answer the following question.

    1. What is the make and model of the computer/Keyboard?
    2. Have you tried connecting an external keyboard to your computer?
    3. Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

    Method 1.

    Try to run hardware troubleshooter.

    Follow the link.

    Method 2.

    Try to uninstall keyboard driver and reinstall it.

    Follow these steps to uninstall the drivers:

    a. Press Windows + X keys and select Device Manager.

    b. Search for Keyboards and expand it.

    c. Right click on the keyboard drivers and select Uninstall.

    Download the drivers from the manufacturer's website and install it on your computer.

    Hi can you please suggest any options for me as my keyboard is not working and will not response to any keys at all 

    1st i though it could be software problem I re-installed the system but still same then I tried removing battery and holding power button down then restarting the system but no luck then I got new keyboard but its still the same

    when I looked in device manager under keyboard its showing

    "standard PS/2 Keyboard
