Frank's solution didn't work for me too.

But i solved it by uninstalling the .net framework extended and left the .net client on the server.

Update worked after that and the extended component came back with the latest updates.

had same problem,for a week,go to control panel click uninstall programs,find >Net framework 4 client profile file ,then click right and do repair file ,install part worked fine right after

    had same problem,for a week,go to control panel click uninstall programs,find >Net framework 4 client profile file ,then click right and do repair file ,install part worked fine right after

    I have tried the repair and the repair reported a filuare and error.  Stated the installation was incorrect.

    Tried to remeove it the .net client progile and it will not.  Stating that the installation was incorrect.

    All of these fail.

    I do server administration on Solaris servers for DoD.  I have not had an issue last this long with a Unix Server.
