Nokia E51

i announce you all that i tried to do a software update and the software gave me an error, and now my phone is a very beautiful brick! BRAVO! nokia.

an advise: for the future: use a software that updates the phone from off mode, and not through pcsuite...

ooooh my god, i was so happy that it didn't freeze for almost 1 hole day, and now o connected it to the pc and it is FROZEN. i am very disappointed about this. i am not going to a service place with it because i live in romania, and so it could be weeks, maby 3 or 4 or 5 weeks till i get it back, and maby it will be the same. so, ... i don't know what else to do...

and some other things: after EVERY restart, i have to reinstall core mp4 codec for smartmovie, otherwise, no avi file playback supported any more.

also, krally doesn't work.

i don't know what to do: flash the device with a normal nokia firmware and lose the warranty, or take it to vodafone, and let it there for some 3-4 weeks...

hello everybody.

i have had a nokia e51 for about 5 weeks now, and here are my opinions:

first of all, it is a very very beautiful phone, also very slim. till now i have used a nokia 3650, 6600, qtek 9100(htc wizard) and an eten glofiish m700. the e51 can not be compared to any of those. the windows platform+phone=nightmares. but let's leave that aside. i was used with symbian platforms to be very very slow. this one isn't, it is the fastes i have ever seen, faster than windows platforms, faster than most java phones.

tested programs:

taskman: ok

spmark java: ok

smartmovie: ok(here there is a little problem:smartmovie 4.11, with any codecs or any kind of converted movies, freezes for a very short moment from time to time. the only way to run avi files smooth is: smartmovie 3.25 and avi foles converted with mobiola video converter)

simply black skin by taieb: ok

sic ftp: ok

putty: ok

photorite sp: ok

opera 8.65: installs, but no d-pad

mweather: ok

joikuspot light beta: ok (perfect for no cable wireless net on pc or laptop, or pda)

emtube 1.09: ok

calcium: ok

blacklist: ok

alarm manager: ok but pointless, because the alarm option on the phone is the exact same thing.

x-plore: ok

salling clicker: ok (wonderful app.)

mobiola webcam: ok (both usb and bt.)

irremote: ok

implus v7: ok

games: alpha wing 2, brothers in arms, helistrike, arcade park, lament island, pgr, superminers(wonderful game for bt), tomb rider, wrc, skyforce, skyforce reloaded, all ok.

the problems i have encountered:

once, it rebooted it self, without any warning. i tried to start it, but kept freezing on nokia screen. got the sd out, same, got the sim out, the same, got the sim back in, the same. this kept on for some 20 resets... after that, oance, with the sim in, it started. ok, turned it off, put the sd back in, turned it on, but it was very very slow on any commands, so i decided to format, sd first, than *#7370#. after this and reinstalling some apps all was ok.

another big problem, once a day or two, it freezes. for no reason whatsoever, like, it freezes when i listen to music, or when i browse the phone with file manager, or even when the phone is in screensaver mode, with date and time, no special ss, no app running. so, yesterday i decided to uninstall some applications, and see how that turns out. i uninstalled the skin, putty, taskman, photorite, opera, mweather, joikuspot. after this procedure, it didn't freeze anymore til now. only one time, when i tried to access one folder on the sd card. i had to reboot it, and than the folder could be seen and no more freeze on it. but the microsd card, that is a kingmax nonsdhc 2 gb sd card is brand new, and it worked fine on my eten m700.

waiting now to see what will happen.
