Can't uninstall iTunes program due to missing itunes.msi file.

I click on itunes icon error Problem with shortcut This action is only valid for products that are curently installed. First I tried searching for the file, no luck. I tried system restore. I tried "winrar" apparantly there were no files to extract. i also tried "Ccleaner" is there anything else I can do I've been trying for 48 hours!This is the  error message upon uninstalling - the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok or try again or enter an alternative path to folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi' in the box below. I ran a search and found a file browsed the path selected open and another error message saying it isnt a valid installation package for the itunes program. try to find the itunes.msi in a folder from which you can install itunes.

Windows Installer cleanup utility is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It was found to damage other components and should not be used.

With that said, it would be best to post this issue in the Apple discussion forums for assistance.

Delete all Apple products from your computer.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

  1. iTunes
  2. QuickTime
  3. Apple Software Update
  4. Apple Mobile Device Support
  5. Bonjour
  6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Then download and install the latest version of iTunes for your operating system.

    Like there is not enough places to sell stuff on the web… like iTunes removal from windows is something exempt of a huge range of issues, and here in a forum someone links to a page charging you $10 for a bunch of general steps that has no real use.

    If the steps from the Apple web support doesn't help, you're pretty much on your own in this one. It is a case-by-case solution. Do not pay for scam!

    Apple's help forum has a discussion about this issue. The resolution is to download and install windows installer cleanup utility as suggested already by ionic_06 on the first page of this topic.

    On another note, I'm very perplexed as to why PROPOSITIONAL TRUTH would suggest you re-install windows to resolve this issue. In my opinion, if a forum member has no intention of posting a meaningful answer they should simply not post.

    Hi Allisonviolence,

    What path do it refer when you try to uninstall Itunes? Do you have the setup for Itunes, try placing the itunes.msi file from the setup folder to the location where its required (Uninstaller Prompt).

    Let me know it it works else can try alternate method.
