When using a 64 Bit Version of Windows always try to get the 64Bit version Applications to ensure Full Compatibility and Stability.

iTunes also provides a 64Bit version.

Download iTunes 64Bit from : http://www.filehippo.com/download\_itunes\_64/

Hello all,

If you are still having problems installing iTunes on Windows, then try the following:

I suggest you download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility fromhere.

You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Once you have opened the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, it will populate all of the programs installed on your computer by Windows Installer. Select iTunes and then click on the Remove button. It will remove any corrupt or incomplete iTunes files from your computer. Then remove Bonjour and QuickTime. They will both be installed again with iTunes.

NOTE: iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes.

Then go to Apple.com and download the latest version of iTunes for 64-bit and try the installation again. You should now be successful in installing iTunes.

If you are still having problems, please refer to the Apple document support: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923

Hope this helps.

I'll check back frequently for any other questions.

Thanks,

Marilyn

You are probably getting errors because the iTunes that you originally installed is too old to be updated. I recommend that you uninstall iTunes 8 completely by following the detailed instructions in the following service bulletin from Apple:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923

Read this bulletin carefully and uninstall all Apple software in the proper sequence to avoid problems. Reboot your system after the 'Uninstall' before you continue.

After you have rebooted, download iTunes from this site:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

When you open the download page, notice that the upper option is selected by default. Although it says XP, Vista, Windows7 you DON'T want this download. Select the option below this, which is labeled Windows 64 bit.

Let me know if you have any further problems.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

you want version 9.1.1 available from the Apple site above. This is the latest version for Win 7 64 bit. It worked for me but remember to remove all old Apple software from your PC before installing.

I still can not get Itunes to detect my apple TV on the home network. Does anyone have this problem too?

    Couple of suggestions:

    1. Please do not type in ALL CAPS IN BOLD. I'm sure you don't mean it but it is considered bad manners. Shouting does not help.
    2. Lot of work but you need to read all the treads. This issue has been covered ad nausem.
    3. If you have purchased a Apple product lately, you should call their support line. They do try to help.
    4. I too have a super fast lasted HP Elite desktop running 64 bit Win 7. I have Itunes working just fine. It is a bit buggy at times but seems to keep working.
    5. As everyone says make sure you download the latest 64 Bit Itunes and save it to your hard drive.
    6. As some of the threads point out, you must uninstall all previous Apple software. Just using Contl Panel, Uninstall is not enough. Use Glary Utilities (free) or other clean up utilities. Once you have removed Itunes, Safari, QuickTime and any other Apple software, then go to Windows File Manager and manually remove any subdirectories that still have remnants of Apple Software.  As always, set a Restore Point before doing this so you can go back if you have to.
    7. Then install Itunes64 on your PC and follow the instructions.

This worked for me but who knows what bugs you might have in your PC. HP has a good harddisk clean up program that comes with your PC. My scans one a day and reports on problems. Glary also has a one click clean up program. You might want to do this maintenance before trying anything.

    1. Also, you might run your virus and malware programs first to be sure you have no infections. I use ESET NOD32 which most consider the best virus protection program. It is reasonably priced and worth it for daily maintenance. I have been using it for years and highly recommend it.

Hope this helps and please .. no more SHOUTING!
