TCP IPv4 DNS server address keeps changing to a specific IP address (preventing internet access) when I need it to stay obtain address automatically

Control panel

Network and internet

Network connections

Wireless network connection

Wireless network connection properties

Internet protocol v 4 TCP/IPv4 properties

Sony laptop nearly new, windows 7, didnt have any problem until last week, have not changed any settings that i am aware of. One day I just could not get on the net.  Good signal to wireless router  but no internet access.  Eventually tracked prob down to above, each time i switch on i have to go back in to Internet protocol V 4 properties and select obtain DNS server address automatically

If I am on line for a reasonable length of time i have also noticed (once) it changed during a session

How can i get it to stay on obtain DNS server address automatically

Hi,

How long have you been facing this issue?

I would suggest you to scan your computer for virus and check if it helps, it might be a virus issue.

  You can also try performing online complete PC virus scan on your computer and check if it helps, here is the link:

    I have had the same problem - so annoying BUT i have found an answer - that seems to be working 

    I just had to stop the alternate DNS address that kept coming up as being an option to be used as follows:-

    go to:- 

    1. Control panel
    2. Network and internet
    3. Network connections
    4. Wireless network connection
    5. Wireless network connection properties
    6. Internet protocol v 4 TCP/IPv4 properties

    important bit  then 

    1. Advanced 

    8.Tab 2 - DNS 

    go to top of VB window - it says" DNS Server addresses in order of use"

    for me the number of the one - the pain in the Neck one - that it kept changing to

    was shown -  select that and DELETE !!!! - pain in the neck gone :D 

    It seems to be ok and when restarting now I don't have to change anything hooray 

    that was so annoying !!!  fingers crossed it doesn't revert back but is ok for one day so far

    Hi, I have tried the above and can only get to point 2 as i dont have a ''Vaio Smart Network'' at point 3.??

    Any reason as to why?

    Hi

    Do you have DynDNS updater installed on your system? I had a problem that caused my setting  'Obtain dns address automatically' to change to 'Use the following addresses' and the addresses were something like 216.146.35.35. I found a link that showed me  I could fix it by disabling the 'Dyndns Internet Guide' in the 'advanced options' of the dyndns updater that is installed on my system.
