How can I darken the print on my screen?

Hi,

I run Win 7 64bit on a computer with performance rating of 7.3.

The print which appears on my screen (a top spec Sony Monitor) is coloured light grey, and difficult to read, especially against the bright screen background. 

Will you please tell me how to get the print to be fully black.

I have tried the high contrast themes, but occassionally, when entering data the yellow lettering disappears into the background, and I cannot tell what i am doing.

    Everyone seems to be missing the point here. I've been in IT support for windows-based systems since Win 3.1. You all keep suggesting ill-fitting bandages as solutions for this problem. I am aware that Win 7 is no longer actively supported by Microsoft support. But this problem started as far back as 2009 and has never been addressed successfully. I am highly disappointed in MS tech supports efforts in resolving this issue.

    I have two different monitors and the text is the same on both. Cleartype did not fix the problem.

    Thank you, this is the issue. Do we need to update windows 7, SP 1? Is their an update that resolves this issue? It is very aggravating for someone with limited vision.

    I agree with the complaints..  I need to increase the color SATURATION. The colors on my Windows 10 (new Dell Inspiron 15 solid state) laptop screen are washed out, pale, like looking through fog.  I tried high contrast.  It was AWFUL, ugly colors, no normal colored pictures (try playing Microsoft Solitaire Collection with line drawings!) . It's worthless for my needs. I am an artist and take photos.  I need to see natural true colors on my screen.. There needs to be a way to adjust color intensity.  Increasing Brightness just decreases color. Red becomes pink.  Decreasing brightness just mutes all the colors.
