How can I darken the print on my screen?

Hi,

I run Win 7 64bit on a computer with performance rating of 7.3.

The print which appears on my screen (a top spec Sony Monitor) is coloured light grey, and difficult to read, especially against the bright screen background. 

Will you please tell me how to get the print to be fully black.

I have tried the high contrast themes, but occassionally, when entering data the yellow lettering disappears into the background, and I cannot tell what i am doing.

    I am amazed that nobody at Microsoft can answer this question.  How can I accomplish making the data on my computer screen darker?  Not bigger, not brighter, DARKER.  I have been using computers since DOS.  I am not a neophyte, but an experienced user.  I keep getting ridiculous answers from Microsoft "experts."  If you don't know, or if it is not possible, please say that, but enough idiotic "solutions."

    We're not asking about the printer, but rather the darkness of the letters as they appear on the monitor screen. So far, the answers have shown a non-understanding of the problem.  Is it possible to darken the text on the screen. It appears to be more grey than black, ergo, more difficult to read.

    Hi

    Try these steps and check if that helps.

    1. Select Personalize when right-clicking the Desktop, and click on Windows color in the window that pops up.
    2. Select advanced appearance settings, and in the drop-down box, choose Window and select your color (a nice blue color I like is the Hex color #a9dbf6).
    3. Note that this only works with the Basic theme and not work if you use Aero.

    I would also suggest you to check the printer settings.

    Totally agree with Doug Mitchell response, have had my Dell laptop with Window 7 pro 64 bit for 3 years now and only started having this light print issue on everything excel files, word docs being read, emails etc within the past couple of weeks .. almost as if a Windows update somehow reset something in my computer that makes everything light grey instead of black print .. and there does not seem to be a way to fix it .. Microsoft has been in  the business since forever and one would think this issue would be clearly characterized and solutions made available for, but this company is in the nasty habit of palming their problems off onto the people who buy their products and this appears to be just such a case .. if anyone figures this out, lemmeno.
