Compatability problem with Accu-chek 360 diabetes software

accu-chek 360 diabetes software will not install on windows 7. I contacted their technical support and they are working on windows 7 version but didn't know when it would be released. I'm currently using it on my wife's xp computer however it is with limited access. I really want to use it on my own computer.

First thought was to use virtual pc xp mode however my hardware doesn't support it. I'm looking for suggestions.

I'm thinking maybe I can get a third party virtual pc or virtual hard drive and install my oem copy of vista home basic on it.

 Don't know if this reinstall oem disc would work in this situation.

dell inspiron 1545 laptop

3g memory

160g hard drive (100g avail)

windows 7 enterprise(32b)

You must copy the the file folder from CD 2 to the External Software folder on your hard drive:

 Place cd 2 in cd drive and copy the content from the external software folder of CD 2 to the external software folder in you folder that you created

So in the External Software folder under your Accu-check folder on your hard drive you should have 2 folders

Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader

I have the answer,

  1. Copy all the files from cd 1 to a folder on your hard drive ( i created one on my desktop called Accu-check )
  2. Open the External Software folder in the folder location
  3. Place cd 2 in cd drive and copy the content from the external software folder of CD 2 to the external software folder in you folder that you created
  4. Get the orca msi edit program and install it.

 5. Use orca to edit the msi file in the file folder you copied all the files to from the CD's ( ACCU-CHEK 360.msi). look for launchcondition and make sure all of this is in there especially the last part or (versionNT=601) as thats what will allow you to install under Win 7 this is how it should look when you are done...  (VersionNT = 500 AND ServicePackLevel >= 4) OR (VersionNT = 501 AND ServicePackLevel >= 2) OR (VersionNT = 502 AND ServicePackLevel >= 1)OR (VersionNT = 600) OR (VersionNT = 601)DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE!!!

Do a "save as" and over wright the ACCU-CHEK 360.msi file in the file folder on your PC

Run the setup.exe from the file folder you copied all the files to and follow the install instructions... i have successfully intalled on 3 different win 7 PC's you will need to put in your activation key witch is on the back of the book that the CDs are in lower right very small hard to read but it is there.

You can copy the contents of your file folder to a DVD or flash drive and use that to install on other PC's if you want.

****As you have already contacted the manufacturer for details I would suggest you to stay in touch with them and then install the latest version on Windows 7.

The reinstall OEM disc would not help. The reinstall Vista OEM disc would set the computer back to factory shipped condition. The software is also not listed as compatible with Windows Vista at any stage. For more information about vista compatibility with the software it would be better to take assistance from the manufacturer.

Also, using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers and software can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.

    If you do go the virtualization route the reason your having issues is your processor doesnt support VTX (or another name on AMD CPUS, or hardware virtualization) (my guess, it should have thrown up an error box and said this hardware isnt compatible.. and why)... if your CPU has enough power (and preferably multicored and pref 3gb of ram). you can try a virtualizer that does not require hardware virtualization (Hint.. VirtualBox does not require VTX enabled for all virtualizers, just some)... Try VirtualBox by Oracle.. its free. and should do the job..VMware Player might also work... Not sure... I know XP mode *INSISTS* on hardware virt (at least the last time i tried it, read somewhere there was a patch but haven't seen it)... but you can import the XP mode virtualization (the actual file that holds the XP mode virtualization)  INTO VMware player...Just some options

    (Correction.. there is a new update to XP MOde on MS's download site.... Install the other parts of the XP mode, then you have to run the THIRD file to update it so XP Mode will run without hardware virtualization)

    An unsupported solution for people who just need the blood glucose and insulin/bolus reports of 360, is that iv been able to use an Accu Chek Smartpix (albeit its not officially supported/offlabel in Windows 7)... To dump the PDA (it supports exporting the PDA as a glucose meter), (or dump an accu chek meter directly, and to dump the pump settings, and make reports.. (only one its missing that i really miss is the multiple basal rate profile report/list (at least currently)... there is some wierdness with the history, so as soon as you get the Smartpix, you want to download it, and download it promptly every 30 days... it wont go back further than 30 days or so i believe ...

    Forgot to mention it does seem to work appropriately under Vista x64 *AND* Windows 7 x64
