Green check marks on desktop icons

Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

    I never understood about Backup...Where does it backup too?

    ALSO, IN MY BACKUP SOFTWARE(NORTON) THERE IS AN OPTION FOR ME TO CANCEL THE NOTIFICATION THAT THE BACKUP WAS SUCCESSFUL, SO I JUST CANCELLED THE NOTIFICATION.

    YOU KNOW, I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU WROTE, AND WHAT ANOTHER POSTER WROTE...........................I THINK THAT IT IS THE "BACK-UP" PROCESS ITSELF, AND WHATEVER PROCESS APPLICATION  A PERSON IS USING THAT PROCESS IS NOTIFYING US, THAT THE BACKUP WAS SUCCESSFUL.
