I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

Hi

You cannot change the Desktop font color.

Because Desktop wallpaper images have varying colors, it is easy for the font colors to be unreadable if they are on top of the same color as a wallpaper image. For instance a black font on top of a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

Hope this helps.

Thank You for using Windows 7

Unfortunately, my wallpaper has a predominantly white background and the system chooses white text for the icon labels!

Thanks to CarlMParker for the workaround!

I have messed around with windows 8 for over an hour. the best way to adjust the desktop icon fonts that i found is as follows:

control panel>system security (on left hand column) > system > advanced systems settings(left hand column) >pop up box appears, go to advanced tab >performance and click on settings> visual effects tab

4 radio button choices are there

let windows choose whats best for my computer

    adjust for best appearance

    adjust for best performance

    custom

17 boxes are checked or unchecked and are below these four radio buttons.

pay close attention to the following boxes, (check and uncheck and hit apply and watch your desktop change),

    show shadows under windows

    smooth edges of screen font,

use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop

After playing with this I selected radio icon let windows decide

    but everyone is different

if you need icons larger and print larger

control panel>system security>appearance and personalization>display then choose display size

I have windows 8 and have the same problem, can't do screen print and paste here but have clouds on screen and white icon letters are invisible.  like looking for a golf ball in white sand.  the automatic differential does not seem to be working as in your screen shots.
