I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

Hi

You cannot change the Desktop font color.

Because Desktop wallpaper images have varying colors, it is easy for the font colors to be unreadable if they are on top of the same color as a wallpaper image. For instance a black font on top of a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

    I would love somebody from Microsoft try to explain in what way this:

    Anyway - if anybody wants a recommendation for a 3rd party tool to sort this mess out, here's mine:

    Iconoid.

    As well as allowing you to have whatever colour you want for your icon text, it is good for automatically saving icon positions, which is handy if you have a laptop and often have to change screen resolution to use external monitors, projectors etc, and various other goodies.

    I tried that and it didn't work... Thanks for the suggestion though.... :) I think Microsoft should have let us have the flexibility to at least be able to change the color of the desktop font. Don't you think?

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

    Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I like it but disturbed with the white shadowed fonts of desktop icons, because frequently unreadables.  So looking for help here, I was able to manage the change of color to black and the exemption of shadow, with little steps.

    1. In Start menu search box type Change window color and metrics, press Enter.
    2. In Window colors and Appareance click item Desktop and set color 1 to white.
    3. Click Apply and OK.

    That works ever for this Desktop (or slide show, f. ex. Angry Birds) with black fonts underligned (not knowing why) and without shadow.
