Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 won't update the library when I add an item to the library, additionally when I delete a file from it's containing folder the media player doesn't remove it from the library. Can you help please?

If all these steps suggested above doesnt work close WMP12 stop all running services and try to open : "C:\Users"Your Username" \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the contained files (maybe copy them to another folder for a backup).

Afterwards open WMP 12 press F3 and the library index works how it is supposed to!

    I had the exact same problem but seemed to have fixed it with the following:

    • uninstall Zune (I had this only for my Win Phone 7 (big mistake) which I don't need anymore)
    • make sure the Windows Media Player library view is open (I leave it minified) when you update the library

    I'm not sure which of these steps actually fixed it but I haven't had a problem since.
