Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 won't update the library when I add an item to the library, additionally when I delete a file from it's containing folder the media player doesn't remove it from the library. Can you help please?

If all these steps suggested above doesnt work close WMP12 stop all running services and try to open : "C:\Users"Your Username" \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the contained files (maybe copy them to another folder for a backup).
Afterwards open WMP 12 press F3 and the library index works how it is supposed to!

Here is the simplest way I found on my own to refresh/update your Library in Windows Media Player (version 12),
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Click TOOLS menu.
3 Click ADVANCED
Why on Earth someone at Microsoft decided to use the word RESTORE verses REFRESH or UPDATE???
What goof-balls!!!
The word RESTORE with Microsoft is a whole different meaning as many Microsoft Techs know.
When you think RESTORE, its like bring it to a previous state with stored old information.
Most Microsoft users don't thing to restore, when they want to refresh/update with current information.
Has anyone found a auto-restore for library option? Why would anyone not want to see their current list of items in a folder they consider to be their library? I don't want to see things I've deleted from my library.
Scott: WMP should update its library automatically whenever new files are added. Doesn't this happen on your system?
Restore media library is the correct wording for that command. It will reset the library to its original state e.g. for when the library has gotten corrupted. The command should definitely not be used to refresh/update the library.
