Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 won't update the library when I add an item to the library, additionally when I delete a file from it's containing folder the media player doesn't remove it from the library. Can you help please?

If all these steps suggested above doesnt work close WMP12 stop all running services and try to open : "C:\Users"Your Username" \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the contained files (maybe copy them to another folder for a backup).
Afterwards open WMP 12 press F3 and the library index works how it is supposed to!

Try this -
This problem also occurs because the Windows Media Player library database has become corrupted.
To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Exit Windows Media Player.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.
4. Restart Windows Media Player.
Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Exit Windows Media Player.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.
3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
4. Restart Windows Media Player.

I know this post is old. But it fixed an issue I had with Windows8. After a while the Media Player stopped adding songs to my playlist. So when I went to the all music tab and selected a song it would only play that one song instead of continuing on to the next one and so on. Deleting the folder in AppData for the media player fixed this issue. And I thank you.
