Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 won't update the library when I add an item to the library, additionally when I delete a file from it's containing folder the media player doesn't remove it from the library. Can you help please?

If all these steps suggested above doesnt work close WMP12 stop all running services and try to open : "C:\Users"Your Username" \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the contained files (maybe copy them to another folder for a backup).

Afterwards open WMP 12 press F3 and the library index works how it is supposed to!

    ChrizK: those issues and that error message probably occur because the network locations aren't indexed. I suggest that you map the network locations as drives and then try the suggestions in this thread to have them indexed:

    I am using WMP 12.

    My music files are on an external drive.  I have used several versions of WMP on Windows XP.

    I am attempting to use my Windows 7 laptop.

    I have used a folder on the drive from my RIP destination, as well as an additional folder for other music (all MP3).

    I can change the RIP destination to the folder, defined using a FQDN (ie \..\folder name).

    I can add the additional folder using another FQDN but I get

    "Windows added the location to your library, but couldn't share the location"

    I do not get ANYTHING in my library from either location.

    I have successfully removed the .wmdb files from Media Player, but it has not effect.

    I have sucessfully removed the complete newly created Media Player folder, but it has had no effect.

    NB If I press F3, it does not do anything.  The laptop is a Dell Studio which does not have a seperate F3 key, I have to use Function F3 - I assume that this does not make a difference.

    In all attempts, if I choose 'Organize>Apply media information changes' I get

    "Processing is complete. Percent complete 100. Status Complete"

    I have also succesfully mapped a drive letter to the directory instead of using FQDN.

    Note - I can view the files using My Computer.  If I double click on a file, it opens WMP and plays the file without any problems.

    I would be very grateful you could provide a solution.
