I am receiving duplicate emails in my windows mail inbox. How can I stop this?

My Windows Mail emails arrive in twos.....each email is delivered two times. Any suggestions as to how to stop this?

Only speculations :

  1. You have 2 identical e-mail accounts. Open Windows Mail > Tools > Accounts. See 2 identical accounts ?
  2. Your anti-virus program has an e-mail scanning action which causes havoc. It is wise to disable that scanning option.

Tools | Accounts | Mail Section. Any chance you have the same account listed twice?

    Open windows Live mail. Look at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced for each mail

    account.  Do you have the Leave a copy on server option enabled?  if so remove this option on all accounts.

    worked for me regards

    Mine also stops at advanced ...does not have that question.

    Bruce,  I am sorry.  Would you please go through, again, what I should do?  I have an Asus laptop. I utilize Windows Live Mail and save a copy on my Verizon server so that I may access my email anywhere...on clients' pcs.  I utilize Microsoft Essentials Security.  Last Saturday, I received 2000 old/duplicate email which I had already deleted.  It took me a whole day to go syphen through and re-delete those I did not want.  Now.....last night, it did the same thing again!  HELP!!!  I can't keep wasting my time with this and don't want to pay Microsoft $35 for, what seems to be, their gliche?  I would appreciate yhour help.
