I have a similar problem.
About four months ago I purchase a new HP laptop from Best Buy, windows 7 home OS. In the first day of use, just browsing the web, the cursor would become erratic. It was so bad, the laptop was unusable. I took it back to Best Buy. We reduced the sensitive and generally mess quite a bit with touchpad controls, to no avail. I could demonstrate this at will on this laptop. We then went to another HP same model, and they attached it to the web, and I proceeded to demo the same problem with the touchpad on that laptop as well. The best way to describe this, is a simple roll through the web page using the bar on the right side, pulling the page down.
I turned my attention to a Samsung laptop that had, what appeared an upgrade touchpad. It has the one/two finger scrolling, momentum, edge motion, what they call application gestures, with two/three fingers. I could not make that laptop act up as with the HP. I bought it. For several days was all well, then the same problems started appearing….although admittedly not as bad as the HP. Over time, I have disable every feature of this touchpad in an attempt to control this. It how does not do it as often…but it is still there and acts up on some web sites more than other. The problem is pretty much controlled in that the cursor will jump only once place, to the far right. This is NOT related to typing, but to moving the cursor within the web page.
I have tried to update the driver, it says I am at the latest driver. To me there is something wrong between these Synaptics Touchpads and the windows software.
HELP please.
