How to play FLAC file with Windows Media Player 12

Is there any way to play Flac files with Windows Media Player 12?  A hefty percentage of my music library is FLAC.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Flac extension is not a supported file type of Windows Media Player. You may however user your favorite search engine to search for a solution that may convert the file to a Windows Media Player supported file type.

    I just got a new laptop with windows 10 and WMP 12.  It plays flac files just fine.

    The only problem is that when I add flac music files to my music folder, the folder that I have set up for wmp to read and and update, wmp shuts down and I get an error message and wmp keep shutting down,

    But, if I play flac music files from the folder, open with wmp, they play just fine.

    I use Switch File audio converter to convert them to mp3 files.

    I will download the k-lite audio codec pack anyway, but in windows 10, wmp plays flac files.

    If you took the time to look at a file you would see that wma lossless ALWAYS makes a significantly smaller file than FLAC.

    There is no reason to use FLAC other than to be on the anti-MS bandwagon.

    Useless answer. Can be removed from thread. People have libraries, preferences, requirements, etc. Answers should answer the question, i.e. how to do it, and this one does not.

    You know what? you are so right. And dont you just love the way Microsh///// soft have a box of standardised answers for similar questions. Otherwise they seem to file it under TRASH !!!
