How to play FLAC file with Windows Media Player 12

The Flac extension is not a supported file type of Windows Media Player. You may however user your favorite search engine to search for a solution that may convert the file to a Windows Media Player supported file type.

Sorry, but we are in 2015! I know you are just telling us how it goes, but as a feedback to pass on - this is unacceptable! 

Even the most simple media programs have a FLAC add-on of some sort.

I agree with you Jonathan nor does it mkv but you can download the codec pack but  be careful sometimes you get extras you dont want!

It's hard to believe this thread is still going!

A K-lite or Shark007 codec pack and more importantly for a sound improvement with FLAC, use Foobar audio player, not WMP. I use it for all audio music as it leaves WMP for dead, especially with decent headphones/speakers and a DAC (or even a reasonable old sound card).

It's worth remembering that sound output is only as good as the weakest output link. With cheap speakers and an on-board sound driver, don't waste your time and HDD space with FLAC.
