Is there any way to play Flac files with Windows Media Player 12?  A hefty percentage of my music library is FLAC.

Thanks!

Lloyd

Hello L Goldfine,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Flac extension is not a supported file type of Windows Media Player. You may however user your favorite search engine to search for a solution that may convert the file to a Windows Media Player supported file type.

For more information on Windows Media Player supported file types you may also view the following link:

Information about the Multimedia file types that Windows Media Player supports

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you,

Mary

Download and install K-lite codecs pack. during the installation choose WMP for the codecs you want it  to have access to. My Windows Media Player will play Flac, Alac, Ra, Wav all of your popular Lossless formats. However meta data may not read as well with these formats, in Windows Media Player; unless you also install WMP tag Plus. If you are only interested in the codecs you can skip the other tag plugin.

Hey I am not going to argue, but I originally replied to a post that Joe Bleau's posted on April 5, 2010. on how to play FLAC in Windows Media player. That's when you came in and we debated about the 2 different codecs packs. Razell has been the person replying back to both of us at the same time pages 9 & 10. I told him to refer to you. So in actuality we both started into this forum replying to someone else other than Razell, but he has been the person our correspondence has been with for the later pages of this forum. So maybe you did not realize who you were replying to. Someone you did not originally start conversation with, but Razell did inform you his OS is Vista. So check yourself. I admitted that I was not as versed; or as you stated an "enthusiast".  But chose to give simple advice. So now Razell was never anyone you instructed huh?

    Here it is!

Ok, leefrost, help me to understand this...

    1. I want my Windows Media Player to play my FLAC music files.

First of all, I run Vista and have WMP 11. Will these codecs work with v11 as well as 12?

    1. I already have Media Player Classic installed on my PC, so Im not worried about that extra install, but I am worried about being able to stop, or un-tic any other crapware that Shark may try to install.
    2. Where is the actual download link?

    Thanks for your help

A new thread in the Vista forum would be the go, as I really don't do Vista issues and is the wrong forum for it anyway. This 09' thread needs to be put out to pasture!  :(

PS: The download link for 007 Shark has already been supplied 2 or 3 times in this thread (without crapware), so I'm not going to google for it again.

He did inform you at the beginning, that his OS was Vista & ask if it would work. Read previous post.

Here is the "beginning" and the name isn't razzell2 and oh my, look at that date!
