As the title says, I want to have my speakers and my HDMI to play at the same time from the same application, I've only been able to select one OR the other as default device: If I: Select speker as default device Start playing something (and can of course hear it from the speakers) Select HDMI as default device Then: Speakers stop playing HDMI starts playing I just want both to be playing together. It took some time searching around but I finally managed to find an answer by myself, I'm posting the solution here in case anyone has a similar issue: Open Sound panel Select Speakers as the default playback device Go to the "Recording" tab Right click and enable "Show Disabled Devices" A recording device called "Wave Out Mix", "Mono Mix" or "Stereo Mix" (this was my case) should appear Right click on the new device and click "Enable" Right click on the new device and click "Set as Default Device" Double click on the new device to open the Properties window Go to the "Listen" tab Click on the "Listen to this device" checkbox Select your HDMI device from the "Playback through this device" list And you're done, the drawback is that you won't have a microphone selected as default recording device, but for what concerns me I couldn't care less.

Love this solution!! I know it's an old post but maybe someone will still see this... it doesnt work for Windows 8 CP....cant display disabled recording devices :( Wonder if the final Windows 8 will be slightly different enough to enable this.

When I go to the recording tab and turn on "Show Disabled Devices" no additional devices appear. Just the microphone. Thank you for posting though. It appears your solution does work for many. Microsoft should be ashamed enough to fix this.

Hi capitano666, I have the same problem, and I followed your instructions, but on step 5 the only device that shows up is "Internal Microphone, Conexant SmartAudio HD". I tried following the rest of the steps but I still only get sound from one source. The only difference is now the other source is outputing sound picked up by my microphone, so all I hear is echo and feedback. Any advice? All I want to do is have my HDMI connected TV speakers playing as well as the headphone/speaker 3.5mm output jack simultaneously. Thanks in advance. :)
