Is it possible to have speakers and HDMI play at the same time?

As the title says, I want to have my speakers and my HDMI to play at the same time from the same application, I've only been able to select one OR the other as default device:

If I:

  1. Select speker as default device
  2. Start playing something (and can of course hear it from the speakers)
  3. Select HDMI as default device

Then:

  1. Speakers stop playing
  2. HDMI starts playing

I just want both to be playing together.

It took some time searching around but I finally managed to find an answer by myself, I'm posting the solution here in case anyone has a similar issue:

  1. Open Sound panel
  2. Select Speakers as the default playback device
  3. Go to the "Recording" tab
  4. Right click and enable "Show Disabled Devices"
  5. A recording device called "Wave Out Mix", "Mono Mix" or "Stereo Mix" (this was my case) should appear
  6. Right click on the new device and click "Enable"
  7. Right click on the new device and click "Set as Default Device"
  8. Double click on the new device to open the Properties window
  9. Go to the "Listen" tab
  10. Click on the "Listen to this device" checkbox
  11. Select your HDMI device from the "Playback through this device" list

And you're done, the drawback is that you won't have a microphone selected as default recording device, but for what concerns me I couldn't care less.

    Yeah PLEASE MICROSOFT or a software programmer make a way to delay sound output to the individual devices so we can sync them up, or have the software "listen" and auto-adjust to sync the outputs...it's just a delay in processing on the HDMI device....I'm trying to find a way but no dice yet

    I did the steps and one second after I hit the "enable" button after right clicking "Stero Mix" in the "Recofding" tab  I get a brief echo for 1/2 second, and then a continuous high pitched feedback type of noise - sounds like a field full of cicadas.
