Dual Monitor blacks out the second monitor in locked mode

Hi There,

We work in support environment and use dual monitors setup. WIN7 heard to have very good support for such setup and easy to use functionalities. However at some point something which was great has gone troubled.

We can use both the monitors while working on it however just the time its locked it blacks out the second monitor background and screensavers set if any. I tried looking for any config changes but in vain. Looking out for answer to this here.

There is no built in way to change this functionality. **When locked, one screen will be black.**There may be some 3rd party software that may do this however it would not be supported by  Microsoft.

    Can there be any update on this issue reported under this thread? I see lot many people here on the thread or otherwise need this to be fixed. Just keeping silence won't help. Requesting your attention and expecting some responsible resolving answer to the question.

    You will get more help Coyoles if you start your own thread. The issue you are describing isn't related to what is being discussed in this thread so people won't know what you need help with.

    @Heidbanger: Have been looking for a resolution for some time. There are several thread about people working on it, but no threads with real solutions. I saw one that uses a script to change your screen setup to clone when you lock it and then back again , but this wont help the logon screen and it is hardly a fix. It is merely a sad workaround.

    (Excuse my Inglish, isn't my native lenguage)

    What kind of Video Card are you using, if is an nVidia 9400GT and up, with a HDMI exit you can't connect more than one monitor if you are using the VGA exit on the CARD, because the other exit HDMI and DVI are Digital, so you have to look for a converter DVI to VGA to connect you VGA MAIN monitor and them you can connect you TV or second monitor by HDMI, now the card will give to the monitor (MAIN) automatically a # 2 and to the Extended monitor a # 1, but you will have you desktop and everything in you MAIN (#2) monitor...Remember this it is if you connect you monitor (Main) by a DVI to VGA converter and you second monitor by HDMI

    The problem with this connection is, that the GeForce make your Main Monitor a # 2 and the Extended # 1 and when you have something working at the Extended monitor in full screen and if you click anything on you main monitor will minimize the extended monitor window and this problem is what I'm looking to fix....

    If some body find the way to fix this problem I will like to hear about it, Thanks

    I'm honestly at a complete loss that anyone, and I mean anyone out there, is that bothered by this missing functionality.  I just ran in to this issue today, with a new employee that just started working for us.  She says, "It worked that way at my last job with WindowsXP.  That's what I want on my Windows7 box."  Really?  Are you kidding me??  Total waste of time and adds nothing relevant to this or any persons job responsibilities when their machine is locked & they're away from their computer.

    I'm shocked at the number of replies to this & similar posts.  The number of people that are totally bothered by this is unbelievable.  Frankly surprised no one's suggested dumping Windows for MAC, but it looks like just finding the lock feature on a MAC may be just as hard (go figure).

    My answer:  give it up & move on to something that actually matters.
