Windows wireless service is not running on this computer

 I changed ownership of the file to "administrator" rather than "system" and this allowed me to replace the file. (Yes, you will get a message saying this will make your system less secure. - Change it back when you are done if you want to... I didn't bother.)

You can't change ownership back to SYSTEM.  It is an intentional design for security that you can only take ownership, you cannot give it back.  This prevents non-authorized users from taking ownership, getting the file or altering contents then reverting ownership back with the original owner being none the wiser.

Dear All and potential saviour!

I'm completely new to this community, and found it after getting the WLAN autoconfig / windows wireless service error.  Who knew we'd be so dependent on the internet??  Any help would be gratefully received - thank you.

1. The windows wireless service wont start (it's on automatic) and I have run the file check scan and there are a number of files it couldn't repair.  
2. Unsure of how to properly configure the 'take command' and what to copy and paste, I subsequently I have tried to go back to a useful restore point, but there isn't one early enough. 
3. There are a number of errors associated with WLAN, specifically 'cannot repair member file', 'does not match actual file' and 'could not reproject corrupt file'. 

       -the actual problems are at the bottom of this message-

Can I:

• simply reinstall the WLAN card drivers, or am I being too optimistic -  I think my computer skills are advanced enough to do this.....

Or do I:

• need to do the whole 'take command' and copy and paste old files to become new ones?
• I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1150 with a Broadcom Wireless WLAN Half-mini card
• if I need to do this, is there a genuine step by step guide for a computer novice?

Finally, there are also a number of other reported errors on the scan, and I'm wondering if I need to be concerned.  Should I?  They are:

 - cannot load manifest (1 file/bit of text)

 - cannot project (2 files/bits of text)

 - cannot verify (8 files/bits of text)
