When I try to use Snipping Tool I get a message stating that "The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administer."__What can I do to fix this?__Thanks

I really tried almost everything but all solutions may work or may not work. The only "solution" which works every time: reboot.

But this is getting annoying since in my point of view taking Screen-shots is something very basic and has to work every time! Shame on Microsoft here! Why is this not fixed since the issue occurs since years!

There is a very simple solution to this issue provided, this issue creates another issue mentioned below -

1. When you get this Snipping Tool Issue, open Paint and copy the screen on to the clipboard using CTRL + C. and then try to Paste this using CTRL + V.
2. You may get another error as - "Unable to get Data from CLipboard" or something like that.
3. If you get this error try step 1 & 2 few more times and Open Snipping Tool now, Your original error of snipping tool may not appear.

It may be a stupid resolution but this has worked at least 7 - 8 times for me.

After extensive Google/Binging I finally tripped upon my solution. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 Professional. I tried various solutions online without success:

• Reboot
• Repair Office 2010 (no, I didn't uninstall and reinstall)
• SFC /SCANNOW (no issues found)
• The 'Remove, then add Tablet PC Components' in Control Panel Programs and Features/Turn On Windows Features
• Close any and all Browsers (no success)

Then it occurred to me that OneNote has a drawing feature. I suspected this was related to Tablet PC Inking Components, since my search showed people also had problems with Windows Journal. I also had problems with Windows Journal, indicating the Inking Components problem. In OneNote I went to the drawing ribbon and attempted to draw when a popup declared I didn't have Tablet PC features installed (even though I checked that); and offered to install it (Yes!). Oddly, it asked for the DVD for FrontPage 2003, which I also have installed. Who would have guessed, but that was my solution. I hope this helps someone.

I THINK I CRACKED THIS ONE!

I've gnashed my teeth with frustration because of the same probelm with the snipping tool and couldn't get any solution online: I run Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop. I have established the following:

The snipping tool stops working only when

(1) a browser is running (Firefox or Internet Explorer). As soon as I close all browsers on my laptop the snipping tool starts working again.

(2) when PrevX with SafeOnline (an anti-malware program) is running. When I "stop protection" by PrevX the snipping tool starts running again!

Therefore, the snipping tool seems to be blocked by anti-malware programs that are meant to protect one from spyware by, among other things, blocking remote users from taking snap-shots of your desktop. If you want to take a snap shot of your screen while browsing you need to either:

(1) Close all browsers IF the snap shot you want is not a website

(2) If the snapshot you want to take is on a wesite; disable the anti-spyware program protecting your browser TEMPORARILY and resume protection after taking your snapshot. I don't advise changing the settings of your anti-spyware program as blocking of the snipping tool is a safety feature (I suspect it can be run silently on one's PC by some malware).
