How to disable auto arrange in Windows 7 Explorer?

Why does Microsoft have to decide how I want my personal stuff organized?I want them organized the way I want!We wouldnt pay 300 for someone to take decision for us.I wonder if you are going to change the Pc acronym for Personal Computer to IBTMN-C aka I belong to Microsoft now computer.I want my folders arranged the way I like.I want to change the row the way i feel like to everyday.Just fix it.What made you remove this??Which advisor told you it is not needed?Who doesnt use this feature??Windows is based on manual arrange.Nice Idea WELL DONE

As this is by design of the Windows 7 Operating system, we cannot disable the Auto arrange.

The change in Windows 7 is by design however, if this is something you would like this feature reinstated, please submit your suggestion to:

    I dont think that auto-arrange is a bad idea. What IS a bad idea is FORCED auto-arrange and that for people who had the option to uncheck it since Win95 and were happy with that, their preferences no longer matter. As a consequence, I have ditched Win7 as my main OS. Still have it as a VM, but thats only for fiddling with it and various hacks, reg settings that might reverse this horrid design choice. Unless MS ever see the light and re-instate this option, Win7 will never be my main OS.

    It worked for me as well. BUT not on every folder, just one folder and its subfolders, the others not worked.

    But people shouldnt have to do it! It must be something that never had left windows explorer in any circunstances. And this way to remake this miss from microsoft show us that it is really the will from microsoft: to determine what our folders must look like. We bought so we know the way we want, f*** you, microsoft dumbiest people ever...

    LINUX RULES! (althought i never used, but it cant be worst, cant be... this spudiest idea from auto-arrange is the stupiest thing ever from microsoft)

    I agree with the sentiments above.  I am so frustrated and irritated with the new upgrade.  I am wasting so much time trying to do things.  I am so sorry that I upgraded and will not recommend to anyone.  I agree, why take away what works for the user.  I want to arrange the photographs in a specific order after they were edited or photoshopped.  Now I can't do that with a simple drag and drop.

    It is a big relief to have that fix , though not thanks to the Microsoft Win7 team...which have totally ignored us .

    As someone who has spent Untold & Unnecessary hours of "OVERTIME" at work preparing files for clients, I THANK  the CLASSIC SHELL team also!!!
