Error Code 1-80004005

Error Code 1-80004005 after reinstalling FSX on Vista. Activation form doesn't load therefore, there's no way to activate it. Observed several discussions on this using Google searches but never found a specific answer. Have tried the FSX installation DVD Repair option but no help there.

Well, I seemed to have fixed this myself. After reading through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960481, I saw the mention of uninstalling FSX SP2 but for a different problem. I went to the control panel and under programs and features I found that it didn't show the FSX program nor SP1 but did show FSX SP2. So I uninstalled SP2. After that and just for the heck of it I thought I would try to fire up FSX and viola! the first thing that appeared was the activation form that I was unable to get earlier. I filled in the key code from my box, was accepted and now I appear to be running OK. I still haven't reinstalled SP2 yet as I am still flying around and resetting my settings that I had originally.

    I found this when dealing with the same problem from http://www.gameskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/games-flight-sim/24856/FSX-Activation

     

    1. run regedit (Windowskey +R)

    1. Expand the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTRO L\CLASS{4D36E967-

    E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    1. After you find the folder, double-click Upperfilters on the right side.
    2. Change the value from 0 to PartMgr and/or remove any other settings and then click OK.

    5. Close Registry Editor

    1. Start FSX/Accel and you should get the registration wizard.  I did. Thanks to Vic for the tip!

    This worked for me as well.  I had PartMgr and one other in there, removed the extra and voila!

    (Windows 7 Home premium)

    Need help!!!!  I made everthing to the point 3. But I still dont know what to change. What value. From what file. On the right side is some files but change. I dont comprehend. I am very sorry :(
