Error Code 1-80004005

Error Code 1-80004005 after reinstalling FSX on Vista. Activation form doesn't load therefore, there's no way to activate it. Observed several discussions on this using Google searches but never found a specific answer. Have tried the FSX installation DVD Repair option but no help there.

Well, I seemed to have fixed this myself. After reading through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960481, I saw the mention of uninstalling FSX SP2 but for a different problem. I went to the control panel and under programs and features I found that it didn't show the FSX program nor SP1 but did show FSX SP2. So I uninstalled SP2. After that and just for the heck of it I thought I would try to fire up FSX and viola! the first thing that appeared was the activation form that I was unable to get earlier. I filled in the key code from my box, was accepted and now I appear to be running OK. I still haven't reinstalled SP2 yet as I am still flying around and resetting my settings that I had originally.

    I would like to add something just in case there are people who have the same issue as described above where it will not allow to to punch in the Activation code .

    Jeffery M gave me most of the cure however when I went to check the value in Reg Edit , it already said partmgr and that is it, so I was a little bit perplexed !

    but I removed partmgr and retyped it PartMgr, tried to fly FSX and the activation window was there !

    So it seems you must also have the correct upper and lower case .

    I found this out after about 5 different fix attempts, uninstalling FSX completely , doing a Revo uninstall clean sweep, you name it I tried it , when I reinstalled FSX and acceleration , I had the same issue, I had tried the Regedit but saw it already said partmgr, never realizing the first letter of each word must be upper case.

    I had nothing to lose so I just gave it a go and it worked so  . . . . .

    Go back and read DavidEger reply dated November 6, 2016.  This worked for me. I found my key saying partmgr, which is wrong.  Correct it to say PartMgr.  This worked for me.

    Windows 10 Home Version 64.

    Hey!

    I have the same problem..

    I am in love with FSX, I bought FSX Gold Edition in may 2013 and installed it on my pc (windows 7) and it worked fine. But a few days ago I bought a new HP with windows 8. I first installed FSX and after that I installed AEP. But then it says : ERROR CODE: 1 - 80004005.

    You've talked about this and I did the regedit thing and PartMgr was already there but I thought that I had to delete the line above that but I didn't, so..

    1. What to do?!
    2. What's the line above PartMgr?

    Can you guys please help me?

    Oh and for your info, I'm fourteen so less of the fancy words please..      Oh and it would be awesome if there was a picture near every step I must take..
