Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I have a yellow ? in my Device Manager entry for the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface. This is a 3 week old Windows 7 64bit machine. I saw messages similar to this in this forum and have run an ipconfig /all with the following results:

Hi,

First lets follow these below steps and check if the issue gets resolved.

Right click the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface > Update Driver Software... > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> network Adapter > Microsoft > Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter

To troubleshoot your issue you may try the below methods one by one.

The error message you posted indicates that you have an incompatible driver or the device driver is missing.

To make sure that you download the correct and the most up-to-date version of the driver driver, visit the Motherboard manufacturer’s website wherein all the drivers will be listed. Select the appropriate driver for the device that is compatible with Windows 7.

You may uninstall the existing driver from device manager before installing the new one.

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel , clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Locate the sound card, right click on it and select properties .

3. Go to driver tab and click on Uninstall button to uninstall the driver associated with the device.

Once the uninstall completes, restart your computer and check if the issue got resolved.

I have a similar problem as Rakatoa, but I don't get it working even temporarily after changing the registry value to 0 from 8e. On reboot the registry value reverts to 8e.

Hi guys,

I have tried solution proposed by Frank57192008 (Original credit to Srinivas R from MS Support) and rebooting. In the Device Manager there was still yellow exclamation mark next to Teredo Tunneling Adapter.

The next thing I did was to make a change in the registry as proposed by S76brx

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\TCPIP6\PARAMETERS

Set the DWord value to 0 (Dword was originally set to 8E).

After rebooting my computer, yellow exclamation mark is gone and everything seemed fine until....

I discovered that some time later during the day the registry setting has been changed again to 8E although I have set it to be 0 to enable IPV6. Although the registry was changed from 0 to 8E there was not yellow exclamation mark next to the Teredo Tunneling Adapter until....

Next morning after I turned on my notebook, the yellow exclamation mark next to the Teredo Tunneling Adapter appeared again. Therefore this solution is not stable for me.

Does anyone have an idea why is my registry setting being returned to the wrong value? What is the meaning of the value 8E? I have checked on the internet and this value is not documented. (

When I deleted it, I added it back in using Legacy devices... Also the warning triangle and Code 10 won't go away if you have disabled IPv6 in any way. (DisabledComponents being one) From my experience anyway. I ignore the warning as I don't use IPv6. Machines work better when turned off as well as the TCP offloading in my case... Way better.
