photo gallery can't open this picture because you don't have permission to asscess file location

Since a reinstall of the OS occurred, it may be that the secondary hard drive needs to have sharing permissions added to the new install of os.

1.  Click Windows Key and E / Click on the Secondary drive / Right click on a folder and select Share - add or verify that your user account is listed and as owner if not set your user account up as owner with full control.

Let us know if this resolves the issue or if further assistance is needed.

If you  are simple not able to access your files then take the following steps to Take Ownership of a file or folder:

1.       Right-click the file or folder for which you want to set permissions, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.

2.       Click Advanced to open the Advanced Security Settings for <Object> dialog box.

3.       Click Owner tab, click Edit. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

4.       In the new Advanced Security Settings for <Object> box, in the Change owner to: field, select your User name, and Check the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects. Click OK, repeat for remaining boxes. (If your User name is not listed click the Other users or groups button to add your account).

5.       Open the file or folder you wish to access.

Hiya Debbie thanks for getting back to me ..I already did that i can access everything else on the drive just my pics ..i have allowed all users Full controll of the drive and the pictures folder..ive done this time and time again if this was Xp i would have no problem

Was this hard drive setup under Windows XP?

If you've taken ownership of the folder you should also check to make sure you have permission to access the folder.

You can change the permissions by right clicking on the folder and clicking Properties then click the security tab. Click the Edit button, then highlight your username by clicking on it, then put a check in Full Control a little further down. Click OK, then Click OK again.
